Obituary of Catherine D. Schmidt

 East Bethany - Catherine Dolores Grice Schmidt, passed away at the age of 94, surrounded by her loving family on Sunday, September 9, 2018.

She was the daughter of the late William and Hannah Didget Grice.

She was predeceased by her husband of 50 years, Howard L. "Juney" Schmidt, her son-in-law, Gregory Moscicki and her siblings, Ronald, Gerald and William and Joanne Grice, Barbara Hare, Ann Wilson and D0lores Schmidt.

She was the loving and devoted mother to her six children, 22 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren. Her children are: James (Mary Lou) Schmidt, Joanne Moscicki, Janice (Richard) Vania, Sally (Larry) Falkowski, Cheryl (Vic) Anziano and Rebecca (Dan) Kandl. She is also survived by her beloved cat, Abby.

Catherine was well known for her wonderful pies and baked goods and her devotion to God and her church. As a member of Immaculate Conception Church and a member of the Ladies of Charity, she continued to help out with their three annual chicken barbeques until she was 90 years old. She was also known for remembering a multitude of people with her cards and well-wishes. A kind and gentle soul, she will be greatly missed by all who knew her.

At her request, there are no prior visiting hours. Her Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday at 10 a.m. at Mary Immaculate Parish, Immaculate Conception Church, 5865 Ellicott Street Road, East Bethany. She will be laid to rest in West Middlebury Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Mary Immaculate Parish, Immaculate Conception Church, P.O.
