Obituary of Tamiko Barie

Elba - Tamiko Barie, 68, of Elba, passed away Saturday, (December 23, 2017) at Strong Memorial Hospital, in Rochester.

Mrs. Barie was born February 16, 1949 in Okinawa, Japan, a daughter of the late Toshio Gibo and Nobuko Ie.

Tamiko graduated from Shuri High School in Okinawa, Japan. She attended classes for Obi painting in Tokyo. Tamiko worked as a head cook supervisor at Genesee County Nursing Home for over 20 years. She enjoyed art, cooking, gardening, traveling and spending time with her family.

Tamiko is survived by her husband Charles A. Barie. The two were married on March 11, 1972 in West Middlebury. They spent almost 46 wonderful years together.

Along with her husband, also surviving are her children, Christine (Kimberly Rapoza) Barie, Lisa (Joseph) Heath, and Adam Barie; grandchildren, Bryan Barie, Connor and Kylie Heath; a siter, Takako Ie; sisters-in-law, Nancy Turner, Jeanne (Michael) Sheehan, Sharon (James) Snyder, Elizabeth (Michael) Algase and, Donna Barie; brothers-in-law, Paul (Gail) Barie and Harold (Lisa) Barie.

She is preceded in death by a brother-in-law, Edward Barie.

Friends may call on Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at H.E. Turner & Co. Funeral Home, 403 East Main St., Batavia. Tamiko's Funeral Services will be at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, (December 30, 2017) at West Middlebury Baptist Church, 4950 West Middlebury Road, East Bethany. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Lung Association of Western New York, 1595 Elmwood Ave., Rochester, NY 14620, or online at www.lungusa.org. Burial will be in West Middlebury Cemetery, East Bethany.
