Obituary of Irma J. Squire

Irma J. Squire, 92, of Batavia, passed away on Wednesday, April 25, 2018 at her home under the care of her family and Homecare & Hospice. Irma was born April 18, 1926 in Elba, a daughter of the late John and Freda (Foote) Shuknecht. Irma enjoyed cooking and baking and was a lifetime member of the Elba United Methodist Church, where she was a pianist and treasurer. She was an office manager at the former Sleght's Bookstore in Batavia. She is survived by her husband, Vincent E. Squire of Batavia; children, Jeanne (Sam) Tambe of Oakfield, Randy (Nancy) Squire of Batavia and Tim (Cheryl) Squire of Bergen; daughter-in-law, Lori DiFilippo of Batavia; grandchildren, Jay (Missy) Aquino, Brett Squire, Jeremy Squire, Taylor Squire and Stacy Squire, a great-granddaughter, Ally Aquino, her faithful companion, Rusty and several nieces and nephews.  Irma is the mother of the late Kevin Squire and Larry Squire, grandmother of the late Zachary David Squire and the sister of the late Laverne Shuknecht, Neil Shuknecht and Leonard Shuknecht. Calling hours are Saturday from 3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at the H.E. Turner & Co. Funeral Home, 403 East Main St., Batavia, where services will be at 1:00 p.m. on Sunday. Irma will be laid to rest in Maple Lawn Cemetery, Elba. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Elba United Methodist Church, 8 Chapel Street, Elba, NY 14058 or Homecare & Hospice, 29 Liberty Street, Suite #6, Batavia, NY 14020.
