Obituary of Rodney L. Blackshear

Batavia - Rodney L. Blackshear, 58, of Batavia, passed away on Thursday, February 28, 2019, at his home in Batavia.

Rodney was born May 10, 1960, in Batavia, a son of Marie (Roberts) Blackshear of Batavia and the late Oraid Blackshear.

Rodney will be remembered as a caring person, who was passionate about his family, especially his grandchildren.  He worked at Batavia Iron and Metal and was a veteran, serving with the United States Army.

Surviving along with his mother, Marie, include his children, Oraid Blackshear of Batavia, Kayla Blackshear of Batavia, Nikkia Farias of Batavia, Rodney Blackshear of Fort Lauderdale, FL, Natalie (Joe) Russo of LeRoy and Jason Rolle of Batavia; grandchildren, Katalina, Arianna, Angel, Josiah, Lucianna and Salvatore;  a brother, Billy Blackshear of Batavia; three sisters, Gloria Sanders of Batavia, Diane Bruce of Batavia and Charlene Blackshear of Batavia and several nieces and nephews.         

Calling hours are from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. on Monday at Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church, 516 Ellicott Street in Batavia, where services will be held at 12:00 p.m. also on Monday.   Rodney will be laid to rest in Elmwood Cemetery, Batavia.
