Obituary of Sophie T. Dedman

BATAVIA - Sophie T. Dedman, 91, of Batavia, passed away Friday, March 8, 2019, at The Grand Rehabilitation And Nursing At Batavia.

Sophie was born December 23, 1927, in Batavia, a daughter of the late Andrew and Josephine Grzebielucha.

She had worked at the former GTE Sylvania and then as a clerk for Norbans Store in Batavia.  She attended Sacred Heart Church and enjoyed bowling, golf and bingo. 
 

Her husband, Donald H. Dedmen died on August 11, 1994.

Survivors include 3 daughters, Donna Feary of Batavia, Carol (Robert) Harris of Stafford, JoAnn Dedmen of Albion; a son, Donald Dedmen of Rochester; 3 grandchildren, Melissa (John) Fytros of Albion, Danielle Gordon of Batavia and Taylor Dedmen of Florida; 5 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.          

She was predeceased by 7 sisters and 1 brother. 

Friends may call from 4 to 7 pm on Monday at the H.E. Turner & Co. Funeral Home, 403 E. Main St in Batavia where funeral services will be at 10 am Tuesday.  Fr. Thaddeus N. Bocianowski will officiate.  Burial will be in St. Joseph's Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Sophie's memory may be made to American Diabetes Association, 4955 North Bailey Avenue, #217, Amherst, NY 14226.
