Obituary of Richard C. Kabel

Batavia - Richard C. Kabel, 81, of Batavia, passed away Friday, September 6, 2019, at his home.

 

Mr. Kabel was born May 25, 1938, in Oakfield, a son of the late Frederick and Marie Marks Kabel.

 

He owned Kabel Brothers Builders in Batavia for many years and was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church. Mr. Kabel enjoyed putting puzzles together and working his crossword puzzles. He loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.

 

He is predeceased by his wife, Nadine B. Clark Kabel. She passed away on September 22, 2006.

 

He is survived by his fiancee, Kathleen Klehn of Batavia; his children; Kristen (Joseph) Prospero of Batavia and Rick (Shannon) Kabel of East Bethany; five grandchildren; Tom, Tyler, Christopher, Samantha and Madalyn; two brothers; John (Carol) Kabel of Black Mountain, North Carolina and Tim (Becky) Kabel of Oakfield; four sisters; Gwen Williams of Batavia, Sharron Kilby of Arkansas, Sandra (Ray) Mickey of Webster and Judy (Rick) Clark of Batavia; his brother-in-law; Kenny Lewis of Batavia; his beloved dog Charley and several nieces and nephews.

 

He is predeceased by his siblings; Thomas, Robert and James Kabel, Elaine Hoffman, Mary Jane Metcalfe, Shirley Dunlap and Nancy Lewis.

Friends may call from 3-7 p.m. Tuesday at the H.E. Turner & Co. Funeral Home, 403 East Main Street, Batavia. Dick's funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at St. Paul Lutheran Church, 31 Washington Avenue, Batavia. He will be laid to rest in Grand View Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to St. Paul Lutheran School, 31 Washington Avenue, Batavia, New York 14020.
