My Dear Emmeline,
I really don't know where to begin, my mind is just racing with thoughts of your Dad and Mum.
My Mum and Louis join me in extending our deepest and sincere condolences on your loss, Emmeline. Thank you for sharing his last moments with us in such detail. Yes, I am glad he passed away peacefully. You could not ask for a better end. He loved life and lived it to the fullest. I can picture him at the dances loving every moment. Twirling the ladies around the dance floor with traditional old fashion grace. He was always jolly, happy and well dressed. He was the last of the three friends still holding strong. My Dad, Uncle Tellis and Uncle Tony. May his soul rest in the Lord's eternal peace.
I am glad you had the opportunity to spend time with him. It gives us a sense of fulfillment being able to return happiness to our parents in a small measure. I know he was very proud of his two daughters.
Yes, I am glad we were able to meet him. Mum kept reminiscing after you all left. It seems just a short while ago he was here for my Mum's Birthday but six years have flown by. Our parents were good friends and shared some good times.
Please do convey our condolences to Cezina and Jagdish as well.
The Secco girls too will remember your dad with love.
Yours in sorrow,

So nice to hear from you. Thank you for informing me of your Dad's passing away. Ishita and Russell join me in conveying our sincere condolences to you, Jagdish and Cezina and assure you three of our prayers. Praying for Dad's soul to rest in peace too. Offered my daily Mass yesterday for his soul.
While we want our loved ones to always be around for us and are pained when they leave us, remember your Dad lived a full life. I vividly remember Uncle Tony for his zest for living, his love for dressing, socializing, parties and being young at heart. What a wonderful memory. So remember all the happy times ....I am sure they were many including all the holidaying he did with you guys. You must feel happy and satisfied that you took good care of him.

ON THE DAY I DIE by Rumi
On the day I die, when I'm being carried toward the grave, don't weep.
Don't say, He's gone! He's gone.
Death has nothing to do with going away.
The sun sets and the moon sets, but they're not gone.
Death is a coming together.
The tomb looks like a prison, but it's really a release into union.
The human seed goes down in the ground like a bucket into
the well where Joseph is.
It grows and comes up full of some un-imagined beauty.
Your mouth closes here, and immediately opens with a shout of joy there

Hi Emmeline,
So sorry to hear about the passing away of your Dad and our good friend, Tony. He was easily one of the finest people I have met. His joyfulness and positive outlook on life was infectious and he spread it to everyone that knew him. I always admired his ability to get along with any generation and become friendly with anyone regardless of age. And I think that was because he moved with the times and never lived in the past. Maybe that was why I instinctively started calling him "Tony" instead of "Uncle". For me, calling him Tony was a way to recognize his easygoing and friendly personality and an acknowledgement that I respect him as a person. We will miss him dearly.

Dear Emmeline:
Very sad to hear about Tony’s passing.
He was a trooper ready to socialize and be with all of us
He was ready to have fun on the dance floor at our parties and had more energy than any of us at his young age.
Raghu and I remember him having a wonderful conversation with my father
You were very fortunate to have had the opportunity to take care of him and give him a good life
It is a blessing that he died of natural causes, in his own home
May his soul rest in peace, and fond memories of him will help you through this difficult time
Our heartfelt condolences to you and all your family.

So very sorry to hear of Uncle passing away but at the same time so very glad he was surrounded by his family. You have been an amazing daughter to him and Jagdish an excellent son-in-law. He was the most charming of people and a role model to many - his zest for life, his vigor and his desire to live life full-size filled with love and laughter will always bring a smile to our faces. We look forward to meeting with you soon and spend time reminiscing about Uncle and his life and time spent with all of us.
So many, many warm memories of time spent with him. May He Rest In Peace.

Dear Emmeline and Jagdish:
I know mere words will do little to assuage your grief, but Dad and you are in my thoughts and prayers. Please convey my sympathy to your sister and her family.
Yesterday, I felt so, so sad to learn about Dad’s passing and so many memories came rushing to my mind - mainly meeting you at St Joseph’s Church in Bronxville, New York on Sundays and once tapping his shoulder on my way for Holy Communion, and of course at parties, where he was so lively. Since I worked for Pfizer and he, for Cyanamid, he used to tell me many stories about his work life and people we might have both known.
At the same time, we know he has only gone ahead on life’s journey, after a life well lived. As the saying goes, “You die as you live” and Dad was so blessed to have all his loved ones with him for his final goodbye. I believe that those who go don’t really leave us. Below is from a leaflet that I found on my husband’s desk in Bandra, Bombay at the very time his fighter jet crashed in 1965, although I came to realize it only later. It was like a message from him. I retyped it because the leaflet itself got yellow and brittle with age. I hope it has helped others to whom I have sent it. I can vouch for its truth through all the years.
Love to you and Jagdish. Keep well and safe.

FOR THOSE WHO MOURN
The great and sad mistake of many people, among those even pious persons, is to imagine that those, whom death has taken, leave us. They do not leave us. They remain! - Where are they? In darkness? Oh, no! It is we who are in darkness. We do not see them, but they see us. Their eyes, radiant with glory are fixed upon our eyes full of tears. Oh Infinite consolation! Though invisible to us, our dear dead are not absent.
I have often reflected upon the surest comfort for those who mourn. It is a firm faith in the real and continued presence of our loved ones; it is the clear and penetrating conviction that death has not destroyed them nor carried them away. They are not even absent, but living near to us, transfigured; having lost in their glorious change, no delicacy of their souls, no tenderness of their hearts, no special preferences of their affections: on the contrary having in depth and fervour of their devotion grown large a hundredfold.
Death is for the good a transition into light, into power, into love. Those, who on earth were only ordinary Christians, become perfect; those who were beautiful become good; those who were good become sublime.

Letter Read Aloud at Anthony Emil Rocha's Funeral Mass at St.Joseph's Catholic Church, Batavia, New York on June 27th, 2020 at 10:00 a.m. by his younger daughter Emmeline Rocha-Sinha from University Park, Florida and who was unable to attend due to the 2020 Covid-19 Pandemic.
" I would like to read a letter written to our Dad:
Dearest Daddy:
We stand here and think how very much, we would like to talk with you today
We wish you were alive because there are so many things we did not get to say
You meant so much to all of us - you were kind, thoughtful, never complained, and that's no lie
You brightened up the darkest day, and the cloudiest sky
We thank you for all the sacrifices you made, so we could have the very best
We know how much you cared for us and now you are gone, you can rest!
Your bright smile warmed hearts, your laughter, jokes and stories, everyone wanted to hear
We would give anything to have you well and standing near
Your love for music, dancing and having fun with friends and family
Made you unforgettable with all those you met...... thankfully
Your zest for life, laughter and wanting company
Kept you well and alive during your 100th year, with love abundantly
Your presence among us is greatly missed and each time we think of you
We know that you miss us too
As the seconds pass, you are always on our minds
Your love for us we will never forget, the hurt may ease in time
Intense tears we have cried and they have poured like rain
We know you are now in Paradise, happy with Mummy, with eternal bliss you have gained
An angel came and called your name, took you by the hand and said your place was ready in Heaven above
You had to leave behind all those you dearly loved
We knew you had so much to live for and so much to see and do
It still seemed impossible that God was taking you
And though your life on Earth is past, in Heaven it starts anew
You'll live for all eternity, just as God promised you
And though you've walked through Heaven's Gates, we are never far apart
For every time we think of you, you're right here, deep within our hearts. Amen
Your loving daughters,
Cezina and Emmeline "

Andreea and I want to extend our deepest condolences to you and the family. Although we did not always see Uncle Tony, he always meant something special to us. As kids I remember being excited to see you all at family gatherings, joking around and enjoying each other’s company.

Once again our we are so sorry to hear of his passing and our condolences to you and the family.

Hi Emmeline and Cezina,
Katrina and I wanted to offer our sincere condolences to you both, and to your entire family. We heard the sad news early this morning.
Personally, I enjoyed all the moments we got to spend with Uncle Tony at the family gatherings over the years. Even more so, I really enjoyed writing to him, especially when I was a little younger, it was great and to exchange some coins.
I wish you both all the best, and again, very sorry for the news and our condolences.

Dear Emmeline and Jagdish,
It is with the deepest sadness that we hear the news of the passing of your dear dad.
He has indeed had a full and loving life.
Its been a pleasure and joy for us to have know him over the years…from Chappaqua, New York to here in Sarasota, Florida.
We enjoyed his company whenever we met him…at dinners, New Years Eve parties, or at other social and musical events.
Always impeccably dressed and looking gallant, he truly seemed to enjoy those times and the company of friends.
Please pass on our condolences also to Cezina.
You are in our thoughts…

Crispin and I extend our deepest condolences on the passing away of your dear father Uncle Tony. We have fond memories of him at Uncle Josie and Aunty Nita’s place as well as the numerous parties at Carlyle’s. We used to be bent double with his jokes and enjoyed our chats with him.
Now, he is joined with his wife and partying above with all his brothers and sisters. May his soul Rest In Peace (RIP).

Dear Emmeline and Jagdish,
Heidi and I are saddened by the death of your dad Tony and reflected on the words you expressed in remembrance of him. We posed to reflect on Tony's cycle of life and especially when attaining such longevity in age, yet being so lucid and his presence radiated joy that elevated our spirit at each encounter.
We know Tony as a gentle person and picture him so nicely dressed in a suit having a slow but measured conversation with us. The most striking profile of him is transfixed in our mind when he was seated between you and Jagdish at Primo Restaurant in Sarasota, Florida when we had our parties there and the dancers swirling around.
Our condolences to you and your sister Cezina and other members of the family.
We hope to express our sympathy in person one day. May Tony's memory be with us and God rest his soul.

Thank you for sharing your thoughts and feelings and the way your father passed away!!! It brought tears to my eyes. I know how much you love him and that love was shared to his last breath! I cannot imagine a more dignified, more loved way to pass from this life to the next! At home and surrounded by your loved ones! Tony deserved it!
I remember the New Year's Eve Party of 2000 and he was always with you and part of you! I always admired your loyalty and reverence for your father! You have no regrets! You will miss him terribly for the rest of your life because you are part of him and he is part of you forever and he continues to live in you!

My family & I send our deepest sympathies to you & Jagdish on the passing of your dear Dad, last weekend. My children had all met your Dad & were really sad. He was my favourite uncle - always had a kind word, his letters (enclosed with medals) phone calls, match-making, etc. so many fond memories! I wish I could have attended his funeral, but as we all know it’s not possible because of the pandemic. He loved you a lot Emmeline & is now an angel on your shoulder! May his soul rest in Paradise!
Thank you for personally calling me, really do appreciate it. I will offer Masses for your Dad, you stay strong!

Dear Emmeline and Jagdish:
It is with deep sorrow that Ralph and I received the very sad news of the passing away of your dear father, so fondly known as Tony Rocha by us all.
Tony had a zest for life, and was light on his feet on any social occasion of which he attended many. .We have fond memories of his attendance at the Goan Christmas dances, where he had the pick of the field on the dance floor.
Tony would regale you with stories of his days in Karachi and Mumbai, which we thoroughly enjoyed.-----not to forget his jokes and card tricks. His easy, warm and friendly personality lent to his having a wide circle of friends
Emmeline, dad could not have had a better daughter and advocate for him during his golden years ! He was indeed blessed to have you and Jagdish with him when he needed you'll most
You will miss him, as will we all. Be comforted by the thought that at almost 100 years, he will be received warmly and heartily in heaven by the family that has gone before him. May he rest in eternal peace
Please accept our deepest condolences.
