Obituary of Douglas A. Hough

East Bethany - Douglas A. Hough, 70, of East Bethany, passed away on Saturday, February 4, 2017 at Strong Memorial Hospital, in Rochester. Mr. Hough was born June 5, 1946 in Batavia, a son of the late Elmer Hough and Gladys Wright Hough. A member of Batavia Assembly of God Church, Mr. Hough was active with the church group, Forever Young and took great pride in his involvement with Operation Christmas Child. A licensed pilot, he loved to fly and had a passion for airplanes and enjoyed attending airshows both locally and nationally. Above all else, he had a deep love for his family. He proudly served his country with the United States Army during the Vietnam War. He is survived by his wife of 12 years, Lorraine Siuta Nadeau Hough; his daughter, Sarah Hough VanPraag of Albany and her children Devin and Riley VanPraag; Lorraine's daughter, Lynne (Scott) Herr of North Carolina and her son, Noah Herr; two brothers, Henry (late Nancy) Hough of Batavia and Paul (Dawn) Hough of Elba; three sisters, Estelle (late Blain) Howe, Rosemary (late James) Nobles and Donna Hough, all of Batavia; his brother-in-law, Raymond (Deborah) Siuta of Wyoming; his sister-in-law, Doris Siuta of Perry and several nieces and nephews. He is the brother of the late Esther and Richard Hough. Friends may call on Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. at the H.E. Turner & Co. Funeral Home, 403 East Main Street, Batavia. His funeral services will be held on Thursday at 11 a.m. at Batavia Assembly of God, 24 North Spruce Street, Batavia. Burial, with full military honors, will follow in Elmwood Cemetery.
